10 day practical course <br />If you have a head for heights plus common sense and confidence then you do have what it takes. <br />We have trained people from all walks of life. <br />As you may have read in the national media, the construction industry is currently experiencing a massive skills shortage. <br />To address this shortage we continually have to train people to build. The new technology in construction requires highly skilled operatives carrying out demanding jobs. This is especially evident in Lifting Operations.

The course is designed to provide information and practice on the operational and legal requirements of carrying out lifting operations on a construction site, in a safe and controlled manner.

Objectives: Grasp a knowledge of basic slinging methods and where to obtain information   and guidance on the approved methods of slinging<br />Understand the requirements of HASAW Act 1974,   PUWER 1998 and LOLER 1998. Become competent in carrying out pre-use inspection of lifting accessories Candidates will be able to identify the hazards associated with lifting   operations.
 Become competent in selecting the correct equipment and safe method of slinging   for loads commonly encountered in construction. Become competent in planning and performing a lifting operation using safe practices as laid down in Health and Safety legislation and guidance
